For the past two weekends, Rural Commonwealth has held 5 workshops to help farmers apply for various grants ranging in value from $750 to $125,000. These workshops, held in Chester, Chesterfield and Shelburne Falls were in response to requests made by farmers at the February 11 Ag Summit.
Fifteen farms have participated in the workshops to date with products ranging from blueberries and apple cider to dairy and a corn maze. We are grateful to Jon Parrott of the Department of Energy Resources for providing expert assistance concerning grants available from DOER for energy conservation.
Next Sunday, at the Shelburne Falls office of Franklin County Land Trust, two more grant offerings will be available to farms with land in APR. Grants up to $100,000 may be available. This free workshop begins at 1pm. Please reserve a space by calling or emailing Beth Bandy at email@example.com or 413-824-2593.
