On May 1, 2018, the Massachusetts Senate issued an official citation recognizing Rural Commonwealth’s “efforts and advocacy on behalf of Massachusetts’ most rural communities.” The citation was offered by Senator Adam Hinds.
Rural Commonwealth is a statewide nonprofit with a new office in Shelburne Falls. The organization works on strengthening the 170 rural communities in Massachusetts through network development, effective communication of community needs, on-the-ground research, and local problem-solving projects. ?
In a letter accompanying the citation, Senator Hinds wrote, “Rural Commonwealth is an important partner for the rural communities of Massachusetts that provides development, communications, and other forms of assistance that these communities otherwise wouldn’t receive. You are a crucial asset to so many of the communities I represent.”
