Rural Commonwealth receives grant from Farm Credit East

Farm Credit East has awarded a grant to Rural Commonwealth to assist with the New Farmers’ Networking Group. The need for this group became apparent through interviews with farmers and conversations at Rural Commonwealth’s Ag Summit in February.?

New Farmer Networking Group meetings are opportunities for start-up farmers in Western Massachusetts to compare notes. Common challenges and feedback from this group will be shared by Rural Commonwealth with legislators and others in State government.

The second meeting of the New Farmers Networking group will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm. The event will be hosted by Kalyan Uprichard and Seva Tower at their Nutwood Farm, 76 Porter Hill Road, Cummington, MA 01026. This gathering will include a potluck dinner and informal discussion. Kalyan and Seva will make a big vegetarian soup and have bread for attendees.
