Rural Commonwealth Business Series

It provides fresh information – gleaned in part from under-utilized municipal records and interviews with local business owners – that will serve as a solid foundation for targeted economic development work in the state’s smaller communities.

Report #1: Western Franklin County Business Report

Rural Commonwealth's Western Franklin County Business Report

The first report in this series was released on October 5, 2017. The purpose of this report, which provides an on-the-ground view of the business community in Western Franklin County (aka “West County”), is two-fold:

  1. to help provide a better understanding about the business community in this rural part of the state for policy makers, journalists, and others; and
  2. to identify concrete economic development projects that would build on the strengths, assets, and needs of the existing West County business community.
